Bill Laswell

Bill Laswell is an American bassist and producer from Salem, Illinois. Leader of *Material* and a member of *Praxis* and *Painkiller*, he produced *Herbie Hancock*'s 'Future Shock' and its hit 'Rockit', ran the #Axiom# label, and has remixed the catalogues of *Miles Davis* and *Bob Marley*. His discography runs to hundreds of credits across five decades, and his dub-heavy bass sound and open-door production philosophy reshaped how jazz, funk and world music meet in the studio.
