Wayne Shorter

A master saxophonist and arguably post-bop's most important composer, Wayne Shorter was a quiet architect of modern jazz. His enigmatic and profoundly beautiful compositions, first as musical director for *Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers* and later for the *Second Great Quintet* of *Miles Davis*, have become essential standards. As a bandleader for #Blue Note#, he released timeless albums like 'Juju' and 'Speak No Evil'. In 1970, he co-founded the pioneering fusion band *Weather Report* with *Joe Zawinul*, blending jazz with rock, funk, and world music. His distinctive, searching voice on both tenor and soprano saxophone has made him one of the most influential improvisers in history.
