Hailing from Perth's garage scene, Aborted Tortoise's 'An Beach' is a primitive and frenetic blast of DIY punk. The album is characterized by a propulsive rhythm section, sharp surf-tinged guitars, and half-shouted, bratty vocals, with most of its tracks clocking in under two minutes. Despite its raw, lo-fi production, the songwriting reveals a lurking ambition with shifting time signatures and a sound that occasionally swings into pop-punk territory.
