Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Scheele's Green' is the fifth album by Vancouver's Art d'Ecco, named for the arsenic-based pigment synthesized by Carl Wilhelm Scheele in 1775, a fashionable colour that poisoned the wealthy households that adopted it. D'Ecco uses the pigment as a metaphor for technologies and status obsessions that remain seductive despite their harms, attacking AI and tech oligarchs on the seven-minute opener 'The Death of Indie'. Recorded live in the room at HippoSonic Studios in Vancouver with co-producer Eric Shea, the album supplements its garage rock and post-punk attack with saxophone, tubular bells and a three-hundred-year-old harpsichord.
