Recorded during a period of significant internal fracture, this release marks the absence of founding keyboardist Allen Lanier and a notable shift toward a highly polished, synthesizer-heavy production style. 'Club Ninja' heavily embraced the slick AOR and arena rock trends of the era, utilizing electronic drums and outside songwriting contributions to court mainstream radio play. While alienating some traditional fans, the album produced the successful rock radio single 'Dancin' in the Ruins'.
