Recorded at the 1966 Monterey Jazz Festival, this hugely successful live album effectively bridged the gap between serious acoustic post-bop and the burgeoning hippie counterculture. Featuring the incredibly young, visionary rhythm section of Keith Jarrett and Jack DeJohnette, the accessible yet highly sophisticated title suite became one of the defining jazz compositions of the 1960s.
