Seeking to thoroughly modernize his complex fusion sound, the legendary jazz pianist formed an entirely new ensemble focused heavily on digital synthesizers and MIDI technology. The incredibly tight interplay between Corea, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Dave Weckl defined the glossy, virtuosic aesthetic of 1980s jazz-rock.
