Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti's first album as Chris and Cosey redirected Throbbing Gristle's industrial legacy toward more intimate electronic song forms. 'Heartbeat' combines drum machines, synthesizers, tape treatments, and restrained vocals in a way that anticipated later electronic body and synth underground styles.
