Houses of the Unholy
by Church of Misery
The fourth studio album by the Japanese doom metal stalwarts continues their grim thematic tradition of naming every track after infamous serial killers. The record perfectly mimics the 1970s, blues-driven grooves of early Black Sabbath, utilizing incredibly thick, fuzzed-out bass tones and vintage synthesizers to create a suffocating, drug-addled atmosphere. It solidified their status as modern cult heroes within the traditional doom metal underground.
