Recorded by Ras Michael under the lone pseudonym Dadawah, 'Peace and Love' is a landmark album of spiritual reggae composed of four extended, meditative tracks. The sound is defined by the devotional pulse of Nyabinghi drumming and Rastafarian chants, eschewing conventional reggae rhythms for a more free-form, hypnotic structure. Producer Lloyd Charmers applied heavy dub techniques, enveloping the propulsive percussion and Willie Lindo's blues-inflected guitar in layers of echo and reverb, creating a deeply psychedelic and ceremonial atmosphere.
