'Nexus Winchester. A Coup in the Cathedral Around the Year 1000' reconstructs the events of 19 February 964, when Bishop Aethelwold expelled the canons of Winchester Cathedral and replaced them with monks from Abingdon. Dialogos performs sumptuous two-voice polyphony drawn from the Winchester Troper, alongside fiddle and flutes playing textless melodies from the same manuscript tradition. Excerpts from Wulfstan's account thread through the programme, turning one of the earliest polyphonic repertoires in Western music into living drama.
