Despite arriving late in the progressive rock cycle as punk began to dominate the British music press, this debut is characterized by highly complex vocal harmonies and lush, sweeping Mellotron textures. The intricate compositional style draws heavily from the pastoral, classical-rock fusion pioneered by Yes and Genesis. Though a commercial failure upon release, it has since achieved legendary status as a hidden gem of the symphonic rock golden age.
