Tortoise

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Tortoise' captures Parts 2 and 3 of a three-part performance premiered in 2026 by Ensemble Tikoro, the Bandung a cappella choir of metal vocalists founded by Robi Rusdiana in 2012, with Part 1 reserved exclusively for live performance. Part 2 consists of seven short pieces interpreting the seven chakras, using extended vocal techniques drawn from extreme metal and traditional throat singing alongside singing bowls and shaman drums, while Part 3 adds tingsha. Rusdiana dedicated the work to anyone who cares about mental health, and it was recorded at Pilarin Corp by Ade Syaepudin and mixed and mastered by Rusdiana at 7 Kerikil.
