Released on the pioneering Mego label, Christian Fennesz's debut full-length is a remarkably abrasive, abstract foundation for his signature laptop-manipulated sound. Bypassing his later melodic ambient works, the record relies on stark, heavily distorted guitar improvisations digitally mangled into harsh, stuttering rhythmic structures.
