Instrumental Ensemble Firyuza

Operating under the Soviet state-owned Melodiya label, this incredibly obscure Turkmen ensemble forged an entirely unique blend of jazz-rock fusion and regional folk melodies. The entirely instrumental recordings are driven by complex synthesizer textures, traditional acoustic instrumentation, and remarkably tight progressive rock rhythms. The album survived the collapse of the Soviet Union to become an intensely sought-after, holy-grail record for global groove diggers.
