Ravissante Baby (Negro Phasing)

Recorded in Paris when the Cameroonian vocalist was supposedly only seven years old, this intensely obscure project is a phenomenal slice of heavy Afro-funk. The two sprawling, side-long tracks are driven by infectious Soukous-inspired guitar lines, bubbling synthesizers, and unrelenting polyrhythms. The child's surprisingly commanding vocal delivery adds a joyous, deeply surreal element to the tightly orchestrated dance grooves.
