Marking the first GAS album in 17 years, 'Narkopop' expands on Wolfgang Voigt's influential ambient techno sound with a deeper, more luxurious, and clearer production. The album continues to fuse submerged 4/4 kick drums with immense, layered orchestral samples, evoking the project's signature theme of a vast, disorienting forest. While critically acclaimed as a refinement of the GAS aesthetic, the compositions were also noted for a more direct and structured quality, presenting a subtle evolution from the seamless, hazy textures of earlier works.
