The Irish instrumental quartet marks their eighth studio release by dramatically intensifying the heavy, metallic elements of their sweeping post-rock sound. The album is deeply inspired by Aztec mythology and a contrast between light and total darkness, reflected in the pummeling guitar climaxes and gentle ambient interludes. It successfully pushed their cinematic soundscapes into significantly more aggressive territory.
