Recorded independently after the renowned keyboardist emigrated to the United States to escape political instability, this cassette release is a deeply personal reimagining of Ethiopian folk traditions. Utilizing a drum machine, electric piano, and an analog synthesizer, Mergia single-handedly constructs a nostalgic, lo-fi atmosphere driven by the melancholic 'Tizita' scale. The intimate recordings languished in obscurity before a celebrated reissue campaign brought his innovative solo work to a global audience.
