Mercuric Dance

Following the disbandment of Yellow Magic Orchestra, the pioneering electronic musician retreated into deeply tranquil, minimalist soundscapes for this solo release. 'Mercuric Dance' entirely abandons pop structures in favor of fluid, heavily sequenced synthesizer drones and sparse, resonant percussion that heavily evoke natural and aquatic environments. The critically praised project significantly furthered the development of Japanese environmental and ambient music during the 1980s.
