Our Thing

Joe Henderson's second album as a leader is a perfect example of the 'inside-outside' playing that made him a unique voice. The tunes are swinging and sophisticated hard bop, but the solos, particularly from Henderson and the adventurous pianist Andrew Hill, push the harmonic boundaries. It's a key document of the progressive, post-bop evolution happening at Blue Note in the mid-60s.
