The Olatunji Concert: The Last Live Recording

Recorded just months before his death in 1967 at Babatunde Olatunji's Center of African Culture, this lo-fi document captures Coltrane pushing his music into realms of absolute phonetic terror and spiritual ecstasy. Plagued by illness but playing with desperate, unbridled fury, Coltrane and his group obliterate structural boundaries in a tidal wave of percussion and screaming horns.
