After a six-year absence largely spent finishing a PhD in political philosophy, the eccentric hypnagogic pop artist built his own modular synthesizers from scratch to record this album. The resulting sound is characteristically icy and gothic, featuring his reverberating, Ian Curtis-esque baritone over pulsating arpeggios and baroque pop melodies. It functions as a deeply unsettling, apocalyptic examination of the digital age.
