On 'Abandonnée / Maléja', the core trio of La Tène expands its sonic palette by collaborating with guest musicians on a double album of long-form, hypnotic tracks. The pieces merge the drone and minimalist pulse of La Tène's established sound—built on hurdy-gurdy, percussion, and electronics—with traditional French folk instrumentation, most notably the cabrette bagpipes of Jacques Puech and Louis Jacques. This results in a raw and immersive synthesis of archaic folk textures and experimental, trance-inducing repetition, captured in live, unedited takes to preserve the ensemble's powerful organic interplay.
