Wake

Originally recorded directly to a 4-track cassette recorder by Mike VanPortfleet, this incredibly sparse debut formed the absolute foundation for Lycia's signature darkwave sound. 'Wake' utilizes agonizingly slow drum machines, deeply melancholic, heavily affected guitars, and whispered, ghostly vocals to conjure a profound sense of isolation. It established the intensely bleak, ethereal atmosphere that would later define the famed Projekt Records roster.
