Colours of the Night

'Colours of the Night' captures the final studio recordings of the revered Moroccan Gnawa master, Maleem Mahmoud Gania. Recorded in a Casablanca studio in 2013 and posthumously released, the album is a document of his deep, hypnotic style, centered on the trance-inducing rhythms of the guimbri, call-and-response vocals, and metallic krakeb percussion. The production presents Gania's raw and powerful ensemble performances across extended tracks, offering a definitive statement of the Saouiri tradition.
