Stepping away from the sprawling, multi-producer approach of her concept-heavy previous record, Marina Diamandis wrote this entire album alone and co-produced it with a single collaborator. The resulting sound is highly cohesive, favoring organic live instrumentation and retro-disco grooves over aggressive EDM drops. Thematically, it acts as a mature, reflective examination of personal happiness and relational independence.
