Artlessly Falling

by Mary Halvorson's Code Girl

Artlessly Falling cover art

On 'Artlessly Falling', the second release from her Code Girl project, guitarist Mary Halvorson structures the compositions around her own lyrics written in demanding poetic forms, such as the sestina and villanelle. The album merges avant-jazz with angular prog-rock, showcasing Halvorson's signature guitar work alongside knotty horn arrangements and three notable vocal performances by English rock legend Robert Wyatt, whose appearance connects the music to the Canterbury Scene.
