The Cairo-based multi-instrumentalist recorded this expansive effort in Stockholm alongside a sprawling 12-piece international ensemble. Inspired by the titular island in the Nile River, the music weaves complex Arabic modes and polyrhythms through fiery avant-garde jazz improvisations and post-minimalist structures.
