Million Miles

On 'Million Miles', Warsaw's Merkabah constructs labyrinthine passages of avant-garde metal and free-jazz that are challenging and technically immense. The album's eight tracks, largely recorded live in the studio to preserve space for improvisation, merge the aggressive syncopation and chaos of extreme metal with the textural, lopsided grooves of saxophone-led jazz fusion. The resulting sound is a fierce and cohesive exploration that is both meticulously constructed and wildly unpredictable, drawing comparisons to the raw funk explorations of 70s-era Miles Davis.
