Released amidst escalating creative tensions with Keith Richards over the direction of The Rolling Stones, this debut solo effort saw the iconic frontman aggressively pursuing contemporary 80s dance-rock trends. Co-produced by Bill Laswell and Nile Rodgers, 'She's the Boss' is laden with synthesized percussion, prominent slap bass, and a host of high-profile guest musicians. The heavily polished, club-oriented sound proved commercially viable but exacerbated the near-dissolution of his primary band.
