This LP constituted the fourth and final release drawn from two legendary 1956 marathon studio sessions orchestrated to fulfill Davis's Prestige contract. Showcasing the 'First Great Quintet' with John Coltrane and Red Garland, it captured the band's tightly rehearsed club repertoire largely in single takes.
