Named after the massive Swedish lake Vänern, the trio's sophomore effort is an exercise in unrelenting, colossal volume. The incredibly slow, fuzz-drenched guitar riffs move at a glacial pace, demanding submission to their monolithic groove, while Thomas V. Jäger's Ozzy-esque vocals float hauntingly above the mix. It quickly established them as one of the premier heavyweights of the European doom metal underground.
