Pivoting slightly from their earlier, tape-recorded Elephant 6 output, Kevin Barnes led the group into a noticeably more polished, highly arranged iteration of psychedelic pop. The quirky, highly theatrical songwriting continues to establish the dense, surreal mythology that would fully blossom on their subsequent releases.
