Phil Ochs structures his debut album entirely around topical songwriting, drawing lyrical inspiration directly from newspaper headlines. The stark acoustic arrangements are augmented subtly by Danny Kalb's second guitar, providing a melodic backdrop for explicitly political tracks confronting the Cuban Missile Crisis and civil rights.
