Serving as the second installment of his celebrated 'Portrait Trilogy,' this ambitious operatic recording documents the composer's tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's early years in South Africa. The libretto, sung entirely in Sanskrit, is adapted directly from the Bhagavad Gita and interwoven with driving, cyclical string arpeggios and soaring vocal repetitions. The monumental work significantly bridged the gap between downtown avant-garde minimalism and mainstream orchestral institutions.
