Firebirds

A fantastic session that finds the fiery West Coast free jazz duo of Lasha and Simmons in a more structured, post-bop setting. The addition of vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson adds a cooler, more harmonically grounded element to the music. The album showcases how 'out' players could skillfully navigate more traditional forms, resulting in a sound that is both adventurous and deeply rooted in the jazz tradition.
