Initially self-distributed out of the back of the artist's car, this landmark album eventually achieved platinum status and redefined the commercial potential of independent electronic music. Lynch layers crystalline synthesizer melodies with classical composition techniques, avoiding the formless drone of traditional ambient music in favor of structured, uplifting instrumental pop. The lead track 'The Oh of Pleasure' became a ubiquitous staple of 1980s new age radio formatting.
