On 'Grotto of the Sun', Rod Modell constructs a tactile, cavernous world from two long-form ambient pieces built upon enveloping field recordings, deep subterranean pulses, and faint, astral harmonies. The work balances its abstract, drone-based structure with tangible textures like flowing water and subtle dub techno undercurrents, creating a contemplative and immersive soundscape that is both abstract and emotionally resonant.
