Following the acrimonious dissolution of the Misfits, Glenn Danzig formed this darker, more metallic outfit to pursue a grim, occult-obsessed artistic vision. The debut fuses the relentless speed of hardcore punk with atmospheric, gothic dread and muddy, lo-fi production. It represents a vital evolutionary step in Danzig's career, bridging the gap between his punk origins and his eventual blues-metal solo success.
