Serving as the final album to feature founding guitarist Criss Oliva before his tragic death, this release introduces Zachary Stevens as the band's new lead vocalist. The transition resulted in a slightly more accessible, piano-driven approach to heavy metal, perfectly balancing their progressive structural ambitions with triumphant, somber melodicism.
