Motherfucker, I Am Both: "Amen" and "Hallelujah"... cover art

Rising from the dissolution of the experimental rock act Sprain, Shearling's debut 'Motherfucker, I Am Both: "Amen" and "Hallelujah"...' is a single, hour-long composition that expands on material developed during Sprain's final performances. The monolithic track is a dense and challenging work of noise rock and post-rock, built from sprawling instrumental passages, a wide array of unconventional instrumentation, and Alex Kent's varied, intense vocal delivery. Presented as the first of two 'sister albums,' the recording establishes the band's uncompromising and ambitious approach, weaving together themes of religious anxiety and American identity into a singular, sprawling narrative.
