This Verve Records session brought together drummer Shelly Manne, pianist Bill Evans, and bassist Monty Budwig for a rare, spontaneous collaboration in New York. Recorded shortly after the tragic death of Evans's bassist Scott LaFaro, the date provides a notable structural contrast to Evans's typical working trios due to Manne's distinctively interactive drumming.
