Schmaltz
by Spanish Love Songs
The sophomore effort from the Los Angeles-based punk quintet is an overwhelmingly cathartic, incredibly pessimistic burst of modern Midwestern-style emo. Frontman Dylan Slocum delivers incredibly earnest, self-deprecating vocal performances regarding crushing debt, depression, and failing relationships over massive, driving pop-punk instrumentals. The remarkably urgent record gained them a dedicated cult following within the alternative punk scene.
