Strange Days
by The Doors
Released months after their debut, 'Strange Days' expanded upon The Doors' psychedelic and blues-rock foundation, embracing more complex studio experimentation and a moodier, more cohesive atmosphere. The album's production made pioneering use of an 8-track recording machine and one of the first applications of a Moog synthesizer in rock, which augmented its surreal soundscapes and themes of alienation and existential unease. Through tracks like "People Are Strange" and the epic "When the Music's Over," the band solidified its distinctive blend of Jim Morrison's poetic lyricism, Ray Manzarek's intricate keyboard work, and Robby Krieger's haunting guitar.
