'Bes' documents the improvised chemistry of the Cairo-based trio of Alan Bishop (Sun City Girls), Sam Shalabi (Land of Kush), and Maurice Louca. The album is built on long-form instrumental explorations that merge North and West African rhythms with the hypnotic, motorik pulse of Krautrock and the dissonant freedom of free jazz. Characterized by the interplay of Bishop's driving acoustic bass and alto sax, Shalabi's psychedelic guitar, and Louca's shimmering keyboards and looped beats, the recordings capture the raw, live energy of their initial studio sessions.
