Moenai Hai (燃えない灰)

Marking the project's return after a fifteen-year hiatus, 'Moenai Hai' is a significant sonic departure for The Gerogerigegege, largely eschewing the harsh noise and shock tactics of earlier work. The album is built upon a foundation of dark ambient, drone, and musique concrète, which composer Juntaro Yamanouchi constructed from what he describes as "treasure/trash recordings" rather than conventional field recordings. This compositional style, combined with a re-recording of an early piece and minimalist piano passages, creates a somber, reflective, and introspective atmosphere that stands as a stark metamorphosis in the band's catalog.
