Showa

Showa cover art

Functioning as a radical, anti-musical provocation, this infamous Japanese release consists entirely of a bootlegged recording of people having sex spliced with the Japanese national anthem. Released to coincide with the death of Emperor Hirohito and the end of the Shōwa era, it is a deeply controversial piece of political satire and extreme sonic terrorism. It challenges the absolute furthest boundaries of the avant-garde field recording genre.
