Faced with immense commercial pressure following their chart-topping success, the ambient house pioneers deliberately released an aggressively uncommercial, highly experimental mini-album. 'Pomme Fritz' largely abandons melodic structures and steady dance beats in favor of terrifying, schizophrenic sound collages, heavily manipulated tape loops, and dark, paranoid dub textures.
