Hometowns
by The Rural Alberta Advantage
Originally self-released before gaining massive blog-hype and a re-release via Saddle Creek, the Canadian trio's debut is a frantic, incredibly raw exploration of indie folk-rock. Driven by Paul Banwatt's impossibly fast, punk-influenced drum fills and Nils Edenloff's strained, nasal vocals, the songs narrate highly specific, bittersweet tales of growing up in Western Canada. It perfectly encapsulated the earnest, high-energy acoustic indie boom of the era.
